Fly Fishing Trip

The chapter is having a Fly Fishing day – and you’re invited! Pack your gear into your Bimmer, and let’s go fishing. If you don’t have gear, there’s a solution for that too. In fact, if you’ve never been Fly Fishing, we’ve got you covered.
Thinking there must be others out there that enjoy fly fishing and BMWs or people with BMWs that might like to learn to fly fish. So I’d like to invite any of you that are to join me for a drive and some enjoyment of the great outdoors.
I am planning this trip for Saturday, April 22, 2023. I am figuring on leaving home first thing in the morning and getting up to a fly shop between 10 and 11 am. You would be able to stock up if needed and grab a bite to eat, and those whom book guides can meet up with them there. Then we can have a good half day of fishing.
If you are experienced and have your own equipment, all you would need to do is purchase a fishing license. You can do so online- Fishing License – You will need an ”Inland Fishing License”. They have a 10-day or annual option. Either way, non-resident licenses are not that expensive.
If you are not experienced, don’t have your own gear, and want to learn, I will help you to book a guide for the day. They will provide almost everything you will need- rods, flies, waders, and will instruct you in casting and almost always put you on fish. They generally charge $250 for a half day or $300 if you share a guide with another person; we can try to pair you up if you prefer. You will also need to purchase a license.
I am going to wait about 10 days to decide on a destination. I want to see who is interested and where they are coming from, as this is open to all Sandlapper members. Generally, we will try to hit delayed harvest or special catch-and-release waters. Your input is welcome. The destination may also hinge a little on how many people want a guide and where they are available.
